So What's New?

So since it's been well over a year since I regularly posted, I thought it might be good to update everyone on what's been going on here in T-Town lately. And because time is short here, I think I'll do it in list form which is also very reader-friendly.

• My 6 year old completed Kindergarten
• My youngest turned 3 shortly after Christmas
• Most of my time is consumed with getting one active little girl to cheerleading, softball, soccer and at one time, flag football practice
• I have been moved to a management position that leaves me knee-deep in not only my own work, but the work of two other people who decided to leave their posts within one week of each other. Which also leaves me to deal with UNIONS. I'll leave it at that for fear of having my throat slit if I said a negative word against that lovely group of people
• Fall season saw me playing on as many as three volleyball teams a week (imagine that!)
• Spring/Summer season features sand volleyball on Mondays and Co-rec softball on Fridays
• We spent Thanksgiving in the hospital while my dad had surgery to remove his cancer
• Currently it is wedding season which I am debating on whether or not it qualifies as a good or not-so-good thing
• I recently got to spend some much needed time with Stephanie, which made me wish I had lots more time to spend with her and many other friends I have neither seen, nor spoke to in quite some time (you know who you are!)
• I vacationed in Colorado in January and Vegas in February
• And last but not least........this one is a nailbiter........I am working on a divorce, with more on that sure to come in the near future

So, a rambling post, but one that I have needed to write for some time now. I feel better all ready. I know I have skipped over some other large events, some by accident, some on purpose, but I think it is easier to keep it short and simple.

Welcome Back

Where to start? It's been a while since I've posted and I'm sure out of the five or so people who used to peruse this site and had given up hope of ever seeing anything but that depressing last post, maybe one or two will be pleased to see that I'm back. There is lots to talk about and I should make a list but that is for later.............

I'm saying good morning, hoping your day is great and now that I have figured out how to post messages again, expect lots of pictures, lots of gossip and lots of stories!

But not until later-I have to wake up two beautiful but crabby girls who are definitely NOT morning people and start the morning rush. Here's to great intentions!

The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways

Things have been unbelievably crazy at work. I'd love to tell all about it, but I don't think anyone who reads this would be able to understand if I even began to try to tell about it. Except for Dave McC, who may have a bit more insight than the rest of the world.

Today I had to attend a Dam Safety Conference in Witchita. When I got to that specific town in the great state of Kansas , the only thing I could think of was a great friend of mine named Clint. Stephanie, you might remember the mysterious boy who dropped off the face of the earth. Boy do I miss that guy-I would give my left arm to see what he is up to these days.

Okay, so a typical, extremely boring conference turned upside down when a coworker of mine got the news that a supervisor and good friend of ours, who shall go by the name of Fred, had passed away this afternoon. We were in complete shock. Fred was one of those hard-asses who pretended to be so mean and nasty, but yet you knew he was one of the nicest guys on the planet. B/c noone knows who I am speaking of, and b/c I am half drunk, I won't go into a ten page narrative about how great a guy this man was. All I'll say is that several of my employees and I got together this evening to tribute Fred, and I can say that after 11:30, we were all tired, a little lit, and actually happy that we got together to remember such a great fellow. So here's to Fred and all my fellow employees, above and below me, who realize that sometimes, no matter what your contract states, or how much you think you should be paid, or what the latest office gossip is, it is great to have people you can call friends and that you can all agree on a common topic: that Fred was loved and will be missed, and that we all have obstacles that we can overcome. Calyn's Birthday

What I like best about blogs is how well you can stay in touch with everyone with one simple post and how much I LOVE to view everyone else's pictures. I think posting pictures is a huge hassle, but I think they make the blog, so here's an attempt to recap a big event in our household and let everyone see how we have been doing in just a few short shots.

First.....the cake. We are known for over the top birthday parties, so for the big number two, we decided to go with a jungle theme.



This is a shot of the be-heading of the monkey. I wanted to post this one to shop how big Calyn is (she is sitting just to my right) and what I'm looking like these days for those who haven't seen me in a while, although it's not the best shot in the world.



Now what is so over the top about that party? Well, besides the cake and games and mask-making portions, I had a friend of mine bring in some exotic animals. This is my dad looking crazed while holding our first guest. Mind you, this is the SMALLEST snake that this dude has in his collection:



And last, but not least, the kids' favorite animal: the tortise. That is Calyn and Phoenix's friend Preston getting up-close and personal.



I hope to post more pics of life in T-town, but until then, its good to be back!

Another Entry in the Babybook

Today as my sister was pulling her car out of the driveway, my four year old was walking in front of her car when she honked the horn and startled her. Phoenix's reaction:

"AHHH!!! You scared the FUCK out of me!!!"
