Life as I Know It

Right now my life revolves around two people (with many others, of which a later post will be dedicated). These two people, or as I like to call them, beautiful monsters, are now 3 1/2 and 6 years old, one in preschool and one in first grade, one chubby and tan, one tall and white, one brown-eyed, one blue, one care-free and one who is all-knowing. I could never have imagine how great these girls would be-they have brought so many smiles to so many people. This post is for them.

Go Wildcats!

Today I had the pleasure of visiting with a group of fourth year Landscape Architecture students from KSU to visit with them about a project they will be working on this semester. While it was nice seeing new faces and hearing them talk about life at Seaton Hall, I couldn't help but be a bit perturbed. How is it that they can spend one more semester than we did during the program and walk out Master's students?! They really didn't seem much smarter than anyone I went to school with-and they certainly didn't ask many questions about a project that is the focus of a major design competition and entails an endless list of highlights that could guarantee them an easy A or B or at least a job with the City (that was a joke).

Or maybe I was just contemplating the fact that I could be like one of the other two gentlemen who were speaking that work for the City and have spent there entire lives outside of college (one for 27 years and one for 12) working for the same government, going through the same budget battles year after year, and trying to catch up on work that will never, ever be finished.........that wouldn't be quite so bad, would it?

So This is My Life

This past Friday I got to speak with my friend from several years ago now, Tim. And while it was a short talk (one that we have every now and again) it was a nice one. Why? Because we spoke about the people we knew (or used to know, that is) and about what it was that they were all doing. He knew bits and pieces from random phone calls and people who know people. I knew more about them from the blogs that I read on a regular basis. Which brings me to this point: all of you who have a blog (and a couple that do not) and those who read this one on occasional basis- well, I still think of you all every single day. I wonder what your lives are like and why I can't keep up with all the news that you all generate in a week, a month, or a year. For this reason, I want to say thank you for keeping in touch, even if it is on a very infrequent basis.

I try not to be a big gossiper, if that is even a word, but you have no idea how much joy I get out of seeing how you are doing, what is going on in your life, and remembering all the times we shared together in those five years together. I don't share my blog with anyone other than the couple of people who read it, partly because I am ashamed that I don't keep up with it that well (sort of like how I don't let people see my basement when they come to visit) but I think I'm ready to share my stories with more of the world-particularly more friends and family. Why? Because although I haven't seen many of you for a very long period of time (with the exception of Tim, whom I ran into at the Modest Mouse concert-great surprise!) I feel like I know you just as I did when I saw you on a regular basis. For this reason, I feel like this is the place I should try to keep up with everyone. Not only to fill everyone in on the major events that have been going on in my crazy life, but also on the little random things that I just love reading on everyone else's blog.

Enough rambling already: here's to not worrying about what everyone else thinks of you, about celebrating the life that you are entrenched in, and about looking forward to what is to come! Let the craziness begin!!

Crazy

Why am I sitting here staring at my computer when I should be getting ready to go to work, finding the swim suit for Phoenix's swim lessons, and gathering the loads of personal paperwork I need to go get copies of? Maybe because it is much less stressful sitting here eating Queso at 7:30 in the morning while getting caught up on all the blogs and emails and ongoings in my friends' lives and for once not worrying about 8:00 rolling around, or why my house isn't perfectly clean or how I'm going to pay the rest of my 2006 taxes..........or why I started posting again, only to drop short after two in a row!

Anyway, until I get a bit more time, I thought I'd post a picture from my brother's wedding last month. I always love looking at other people's pictures! Ciao~

So What's New?

So since it's been well over a year since I regularly posted, I thought it might be good to update everyone on what's been going on here in T-Town lately. And because time is short here, I think I'll do it in list form which is also very reader-friendly.

• My 6 year old completed Kindergarten
• My youngest turned 3 shortly after Christmas
• Most of my time is consumed with getting one active little girl to cheerleading, softball, soccer and at one time, flag football practice
• I have been moved to a management position that leaves me knee-deep in not only my own work, but the work of two other people who decided to leave their posts within one week of each other. Which also leaves me to deal with UNIONS. I'll leave it at that for fear of having my throat slit if I said a negative word against that lovely group of people
• Fall season saw me playing on as many as three volleyball teams a week (imagine that!)
• Spring/Summer season features sand volleyball on Mondays and Co-rec softball on Fridays
• We spent Thanksgiving in the hospital while my dad had surgery to remove his cancer
• Currently it is wedding season which I am debating on whether or not it qualifies as a good or not-so-good thing
• I recently got to spend some much needed time with Stephanie, which made me wish I had lots more time to spend with her and many other friends I have neither seen, nor spoke to in quite some time (you know who you are!)
• I vacationed in Colorado in January and Vegas in February
• And last but not least........this one is a nailbiter........I am working on a divorce, with more on that sure to come in the near future

So, a rambling post, but one that I have needed to write for some time now. I feel better all ready. I know I have skipped over some other large events, some by accident, some on purpose, but I think it is easier to keep it short and simple.
