Good Day

Today was a good day. I woke up earlier than usual (though not quite as early as I've been striving for) and got the girls up and ready and to school on time, then made it to work before 8 o'clock! This is a BIG deal for me, and started the day off well.

The afternoon drug on, but a trip to the vet for the newest member of the family (Sis, the chihuahua) allowed me to leave a bit early, and then practice was canceled so that freed up the evening for my second job; At Home.

I'll probably post more on this later, but during our conference call tonight I was recognized for doing so well during my first two weeks and having top sales! It made me so happy and for those of you who are interested, please ask!! I would love to share with you how awesome this group of people are and how welcome they make you feel, how easy it is to be a part of, and how much they help you own your own business and bring in money while meeting so many new friends.

I want to call my best friend and beg her to be a part of this with me, but I don't want to sound like I'm soliciting so I'll see if she (or anyone else) takes the bait! Now, if I can just figure out how to make it home from an hour's drive away after a meeting that ends at noon on Saturday and make it back to coach Calyn's soccer game at 1:00, get Phoenix from her 10:00 soccer scrimmage to her 12:00 softball double header and see some of Jordan's football game I'll be set!!

I'm Baaaaaack!

So, the blog lived, then died, then its heart began to beat again, followed shortly by another flat-line. This is exactly why I named this baby 'The Greatest of Intentions' - because my intentions are always great; I just usually have a lack of follow through.

So because I just talked to one of the greatest gals in the whole world about what has been going on in her life, I thought I'd get back to trying to let everyone in on what goes on in mine.

And that includes a LOT of things: kids (total being 4 now!!), sports (total being 8 going on consecutively now!!), jobs (two, which are both going great), pets (two dogs, two lizards, 13+ fish, and whatever new bug or small animal comes along the way-currently one very hungry caterpillar and one potential butterfly, and a weird egg case made by a spider: I think!), humanitarian efforts (currently two that are slow-movers, but efforts nonetheless), and one very great, great guy whom despite all of this, still keeps running with me and together we have been able to create a great life with each other.

So this past summer, through all the trips to baseball and softball games (ours and the kids') we managed to take a nice vacation to Colorado (pics to come later) and spend some days hanging at the pool. The next thing I knew, the boys were off to school again (entering 6th and 7th grade) and my little babies were headed back to preschool and 2nd grade! How did I ever get to the point where I am 28 years old and leading this life?! But you know, I wouldn't change a minute of it.

So yesterday, after football practice, AHA calls, going to get 12 inches of Phoenix's hair cut off, and grabbing my little nephew to hang out for awhile, we were able to enjoy the evening with some great friends swimming in their pool, playing poker, and staying up till the wee hours of the morning, which is why I have some time to sit here and write this post while everyone else is still sleeping in.

So, here's to this blog; may it grow and prosper and give you all a little extra reading material every now and then.

Life as I Know It

Right now my life revolves around two people (with many others, of which a later post will be dedicated). These two people, or as I like to call them, beautiful monsters, are now 3 1/2 and 6 years old, one in preschool and one in first grade, one chubby and tan, one tall and white, one brown-eyed, one blue, one care-free and one who is all-knowing. I could never have imagine how great these girls would be-they have brought so many smiles to so many people. This post is for them.

Go Wildcats!

Today I had the pleasure of visiting with a group of fourth year Landscape Architecture students from KSU to visit with them about a project they will be working on this semester. While it was nice seeing new faces and hearing them talk about life at Seaton Hall, I couldn't help but be a bit perturbed. How is it that they can spend one more semester than we did during the program and walk out Master's students?! They really didn't seem much smarter than anyone I went to school with-and they certainly didn't ask many questions about a project that is the focus of a major design competition and entails an endless list of highlights that could guarantee them an easy A or B or at least a job with the City (that was a joke).

Or maybe I was just contemplating the fact that I could be like one of the other two gentlemen who were speaking that work for the City and have spent there entire lives outside of college (one for 27 years and one for 12) working for the same government, going through the same budget battles year after year, and trying to catch up on work that will never, ever be finished.........that wouldn't be quite so bad, would it?

So This is My Life

This past Friday I got to speak with my friend from several years ago now, Tim. And while it was a short talk (one that we have every now and again) it was a nice one. Why? Because we spoke about the people we knew (or used to know, that is) and about what it was that they were all doing. He knew bits and pieces from random phone calls and people who know people. I knew more about them from the blogs that I read on a regular basis. Which brings me to this point: all of you who have a blog (and a couple that do not) and those who read this one on occasional basis- well, I still think of you all every single day. I wonder what your lives are like and why I can't keep up with all the news that you all generate in a week, a month, or a year. For this reason, I want to say thank you for keeping in touch, even if it is on a very infrequent basis.

I try not to be a big gossiper, if that is even a word, but you have no idea how much joy I get out of seeing how you are doing, what is going on in your life, and remembering all the times we shared together in those five years together. I don't share my blog with anyone other than the couple of people who read it, partly because I am ashamed that I don't keep up with it that well (sort of like how I don't let people see my basement when they come to visit) but I think I'm ready to share my stories with more of the world-particularly more friends and family. Why? Because although I haven't seen many of you for a very long period of time (with the exception of Tim, whom I ran into at the Modest Mouse concert-great surprise!) I feel like I know you just as I did when I saw you on a regular basis. For this reason, I feel like this is the place I should try to keep up with everyone. Not only to fill everyone in on the major events that have been going on in my crazy life, but also on the little random things that I just love reading on everyone else's blog.

Enough rambling already: here's to not worrying about what everyone else thinks of you, about celebrating the life that you are entrenched in, and about looking forward to what is to come! Let the craziness begin!!
